Tips as Master Ceremony

1.      Prepare for an opening.  
If you just come out and start the introductions there is now show.  The Olympics do not just start with some folks running races or lifting weights.  They have a choreographed opening ceremonies.  You need the same thing.  Crafting a pertinent story that draws in your audience before you get into the mundane (but necessary) tasks of thanking the sponsors and honoring guests is a great way to launch.

2.      Remember that you are not the star of the show.  
When you deliver a speech, there is a part of the role that requires you to take center stage, but as MC it is not your time in the spotlight.  You are there to keep things moving and to make sure the others on the program (or the award winners) are celebrated.

There are 3 kinds of master ceremony. They are formal, semiformal and informal.
a.      Formal Master of Ceremony
Formal Master of Ceremony is a MC of formal event. the event have a common rules, and every rules must be obey by every audience. The language is formal and the audiences wear appropriate clothes.

Example of formal master ceremony :
         Inaugural ceremony
         Flag Ceremony
         Graduation ceremony
         Anniversary of a certain university, school, etc.

Synopsis about the Crying Stone

*Synopsis :


In a small village, there was a girl live with her mother. She was very beautiful but she didn’t like to help her mother.

One day, the mother asked to accompany her to go to the market. Actually she didn’t want to do it but the mother persuades her to buy new clothes in the market. Finally, she agree but she didn’t want to walk side by side with her mother because they looked very different in which her mother was an old woman with a simple dress and the girl very beautiful. Every time they met with other people, and they asked who the woman behind the beautiful girl, the girl always said that her mother is her servant. At last, the mother prayed with the God to punish her daughter. Finally, the girl became a big stone. And until now, people still can see tears falling down the stone. Then people call it the crying stone or batu menangis.

Definition of Speaking

Speaking is one of language skill which is very important to be mastered by students in order to be good communicator. Speaking is the verbal use of language to communicate with others. Speech is about making choices. Students must choose how to interact in expressing themselves and forming social relationship through speech.


According to Hall, speaking in an ability that is taken for granted learned as it is through process of socialization through communicating. Speaking is making use of language in ordinary voice; uttering words; knowing and being able to use a language; expressing oneself in words; making speech. In short speaking can be as the way to carry out feeling through words, even conversations with other. It means that human use words and phrases in interactive process of constructing meaning of speaking.

Definition of Writing

Writing is one of language skill which is very important to be mastered by students in order to be good communicator because writing is a media of communication. It is very important as one media of communication that can help students to have a good socialization, to express their idea, their feeling, and their opinion so that they are able to have a good interaction with their society.
Writing is one of the four basic skills of language which has an important role in many aspects of life. Using writing we can learn lot of things from the simplest thing until a complex one. If we have ideas, desires and everything to explain, writing can be used as an instrument that makes somebody else understand what we want to explain. In short, we can say that writing pays an important role in our life.

Hammer (2004:3) states that “being able to write is a vital skill for ‘speaker’ of a foreign language as much as for everyone using their own first language”. In line with Hammer’s opinion, Ramelan (1994:11) states that “writing is very important as a part of man’s culture because it can be used to preserve thought, ideas, and also speech sound”.

The many forms of classroom interaction allow students to use their learned skills. To avoid overemphasizing the theory and memorization of the material presented in class, teachers employ classroom interaction to give students the ability to think critically, focus on specific details and practice what they have learned. Teachers have access to many methods of creating an interactive classroom. Common methods include classroom conversation, question-and-answer, reading aloud and role-playing.

Elements of writing

Many students have difficulties in writing. They are many elements of writing that must be mastered by students in order to be a good writer:
1) Organization
It contains reasonable sentences that support the topic of the writing. The ideas of the students are well organized and can be understood by the reader.
2) Content
Content refers to the sentences that flow easily and not too hard to understand although a simple writing. The reasonable sentences that arranged into good story here that is meant by the content.
3) Grammar
Grammar is connecting with how the words are arranged into good sentences. Good means correct in the tenses and has meaning. Some students got the problem with this. This is because some of them still confuse what verbs that should be used in the sentence.
4) Punctuation
When the students write they have to think about the punctuation or spelling that is used in writing. It will make their writing sounds reasonable to read. The pause is also needed when they read a text. The capital letter is also important when they write the first word in a sentence. This ability needs careful practice.
5) Style
Style deals with the precise vocabulary usage and the use of parallel structure. Vocabulary takes important role in English. Vocabulary is the basic thing that should be owned by students. Without that, they cannot do many kind of English task. The lack of vocabulary means failure in communication. So in writing students must have enough vocabulary to make it succeed.

Inflectional Morphemes of English

1.     Description of inflectional morphemes

     A free morpheme is a morpheme that can stand by itself. As examples, house, have, good, fast, the, can, for, etc. are free morphemes. While {en-}, {ex-}, {-Z1}, {-D1}, {-ing1}, etc. are bound morphemes, because they cannot stand by themselves.

     Bound morphemes are of three types: (a) suffixes, (b) prefixes, and (c) bound bases.

First, the teacher pronounced the word several times. And the students just listen to the teacher. Then, the teacher asked the student 10 follow what he said. When he was sure that the students were able to pronounce the words, he asked them to it in union and then individually.

An Introduction to Auctions

            There are basically two types of auctions: ascending-bid auctions and descending-bid auctions. Ascending-bid auctions start out with a low bid for an object. The price of the object is gradually raised until only one bidder remains. By contrast, descending-bid auctions start out with a high bid and the price is progressively lowered until a customer expresses a willingness to purchase the object. Both procedures have a number of variants. For example, in some types of auctions a professional auctioneer declares the suggested bids. In other types of auctions, however, the customers make their own bids. Another variant, used at places such as eBay or Yahoo Auction, is called a "buyout option". A high price for an item is declared. Anyone willing to pay that price is guaranteed a purchase. This variant seems to appeal consumers who dislike uncertainty: for a fixed price they are guaranteed an object. "Buyout options" are most commonly used if the seller has a stock of several copies of the same item.

            Both ascending-bid and descending-bid auctions can be conducted in either open or closed formats. In open formats, all participants know what exactly how much an object is going for. For example, at many Japanese fish markets, wholesalers gather around the fish to be purchased and raise their hands as the auctioneer names progressively higher prices. In closed auctions, participants are unaware of how much other participants are willing to pay for an object. For example, a case in which participants used sealed envelopes to place their bids on a piece of real estate represents this type of auction. Though open auctions generally yield higher prices, closed formats are sometimes preferred in situations in which the privacy of the prospective buyers is considered paramount or the need to document precisely how much each party bid is high.

Essay about Characteristic of YL (Assignment of TEYL) By : Putri Amaliah

Here I will discuss about the characteristic of young learners. Perhaps we think this is easy, but we still have to know and understand what is the characteristic of young learners before us teaching English for young learners. But before that, I want to explain the meaning of young learners. Young learners are supposed to be children from the first year of formal schooling (five or six years old) to eleven or twelve years of age. However, the age of children is not crucial for how mature they are. Young learners are superior in language learning than adults. The young learner is very unique, although they has short attention, like playing and has limited knowledge that they have, but they are risk taker which make them success in learning process
According to Slattery (2001: 4) children are learners who:
·         love to play and use imagination
·         are naturally curious
·         enjoy repetition and routines
·         are developing quickly as individuals
·         learn in a variety of ways, for example, by watching, by listening, by imitating, by doing things
·         are not able to understand grammatical rules and explanations about language
·         have quite a short attention span and so need variety of activities
·         talk in their mother tongue about what they understand and do – this helps them learn
·         can generally imitate the sounds they hear quite accurately and copy the way adults speak

Example of Essay Literary (Assignment of Literary ) By : Putri Amaliah

Literary Appreciation is simply the ability to understand, enjoy and evaluate works of Literature. Evaluate here means to make judgment about the quality or value of literary work. Evaluation is usually an opinion about a given work, but it must be based on facts. Literary appreciation focuses on the adequate grasp of the definitions and applications of traditional literary devices such as plot, character, metaphor, setting and symbolism which may be encountered within texts.
In addition, Literature has some definition, there are: 1) The definition of 14th century: it means polite learning through reading. A man of literature or a man of letters = a man of wide reading, “literacy”. 2) The definition of 18th century: practice and profession of writing. 3) The definition of 19th century: the high skills of writing in the special context of high imagination. 4) Robert Frost’s definition: performance in words. 5) Modern definition: We can define literature as language artistically used to achieve identifiable literary qualities and to convey meaningful messages. Literature is characterized by beauty of expression and form and by universality intellectual and emotional appeal. But, in other hand we can also define Literature as imitation of Life. It is an imaginary composition. Literature is not a faithful record of reality as History is. This means Literature merely copies actual life people, events and situations.
